What is Fast Track?

Fast Track is a way to handle some quarantine procedures in advance, before you enter Japan, using the MySOS app on a smartphone.
If you want to use Fast Track, you can complete some procedures prior to entering Japan, for verification of documentation for your test result certificate for a test taken less than 72 hours before departure, your personal Pledge, and vaccination certificate, etc.

What happens if I don’t use Fast Track?

Is there a cost to use Fast Track?

Fast Track is a way to handle some airport quarantine procedures electronically in advance. There is no cost for using Fast Track itself, but any costs related to owning a smartphone/device and mobile data to use Fast Track must be covered by the user.

Who can use Fast Track?

Fast Track can be used by anyone with a smartphone who installs the MySOS app.

Can I still use Fast Track if children travel with me?

Yes.
If a person aged 12 years or under (at time of entry) is traveling together, a parent/guardian can register together for Fast Track by registering name and other information under “Register an accompanying person” when installing the app.
If the person is aged 13 years or over, it is not possible to register as an accompanying person. That person will need to have a smartphone and register using the app.

How do I register if I have had one or two doses of a vaccine, but not three doses?

If you have not received your third dose of valid vaccine(s), please select the “No” option when asked about registering a vaccine certificate.

What should I do to register an accompanying child who did not meet vaccination requirements and/or did not receive a third dose?

If your child has not received a third dose of valid vaccine(s), please select the “No” option when asked about registering a vaccine certificate. It is not necessary to upload the parent/guardian's certificate.

2.About using the app

What is the cut-off date for me to use Fast Track?

Please complete the pre-registration via the app at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled Japan arrival date and time of your flight. After you complete the online questionnaire using the app, the cut-off time will be displayed on the screen, so please complete the registration by that time. After you have entered all the required information, this registration step will be complete once the words “Registration complete” are displayed on a yellow or green screen.

Can I still use Fast Track if I don't have Internet access?

You will need to connect to the Internet for registration prior to entering Japan, and again during quarantine procedures at the airport.
You will need to show the app screen during quarantine procedures after arriving at the airport in Japan. A Wi-Fi connection will be available at the airport.

Can I do the Fast Track procedures while I’m on the plane?

You will not be able to use Fast Track if your pre-registration via the app is not completed at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date and time of your flight.

After arriving at the airport in Japan, can I register using the app and use Fast Track?

You will not be able to use Fast Track if your pre-registration via the app is not completed at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date and time of your flight.

From the country/region where I currently live, can I pre-register using the app before entering Japan, and use Fast Track?

You can use Fast Track if you install the app on your smartphone and complete the pre-registration with the required information at least 6 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date and time of your flight. You can use Fast Track in any country or region, as long as you can connect to the Internet and install and use the MySOS app on your smartphone or other device.

Can I still use Fast Track if I don't have a vaccination certificate?

You can still use Fast Track if you don't have a vaccination certificate. However, if you selected “No” for the option of registering a vaccination certificate at the time you registered, you will not be able to submit a vaccination certificate at the quarantine office when you enter Japan.

Can I still use Fast Track if I don't have a test certificate (for a test less than 72 hours before departure) when I pre-register using MySOS?

Yes, you can still use Fast Track if you don't have a test certificate for a test taken less than 72 hours before departure. When you are registering using the app, for the item “Do you wish to do prior registration of a test certificate?” please register with your selection of “No". If you select "No", you will be required to show the paper (or other) version of the test certificate when you board the aircraft, enter Japan, etc.

What address should I register if I will be quarantining at facilities secured by the quarantine office?

Please register the address where you will stay after you leave the facilities that were secured by the Quarantine Office.

I have had three vaccine doses, but what if one or more of them is not recognized by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare?

Please select "No".

Which file formats will be accepted for uploading my test certificate or vaccination certificate, etc.?

You can upload files in these formats: PNG, JPG (JPEG), GIF, and PDF. File size is limited to 5 MB per file. Up to 5 files can be uploaded.

Which time (local time or Japan time) should I enter to indicate when the sample was taken?

Please enter the local time as shown on the test certificate, for a test taken less than 72 hours before your flight departure.

I would like to know the name to be registered in Fast Track.

Please use the name on your passport.

I can't register my name in Chinese characters.

Please use the name (in Roman character) printed on your passport.

What should I do if my family name changes due to marriage, etc., so the name on the vaccination certificate does not match the name on my passport?

On the vaccination certificate, please use a pen or pencil to clearly write your name as indicated in your passport. Please upload an image of the certificate that clearly shows the full name you have written.
Please note that your document might not be accepted if the names in the vaccination certificate and passport differ significantly (for example, neither your first nor family name actually matches between the two documents).

Is the MySOS app used for Fast Track the same as the MySOS app used to confirm health condition and location after entering Japan?

Yes, it is the same app.
The MySOS app installed for Fast Track is the same one used to report and confirm health condition and location for the designated quarantine period after you enter Japan. Please leave it installed and continue using it.

Can I delete the MySOS app after I've finished using Fast Track?

What do the different colors of the MySOS screen mean?

Red screen: Pre-registration has not been completed.
Yellow screen: Except for the test certificate, pre-registration has been completed. You can use FastTrack, but will be required to show the paper (or other) version of the test certificate when you board the aircraft, enter Japan, etc.
Green screen: All pre-registration and review procedures have been completed. Please show this screen when you board the aircraft and when you enter Japan.

If I have registered incorrect information during pre-registration, can I correct it?

If it is before you register “Yes” or “No” regarding a test certificate (for a test taken less than 72 hours before departure),you can change the information you entered in the online questionnaire and personal Pledge, at any time.
Once you register “Yes” or “No” regarding a test certificate (for a test taken less than 72 hours before departure), the Quarantine Documentation Center (QDC) will start your review, but if your current status is indicated as “Under review” it is still possible to change the information you entered for the online questionnaire and personal Pledge.
Once the status is indicated as “Review complete,” it is no longer possible to change the information you entered.
After the review is complete, if you wish to change any information for reasons such as changes in the reserved flight or accompanying person(s), you will need to uninstall the MySOS app, then re-install it, and enter all the information again from the start.

I want to register for Fast Track but I don't see the “Pre-registration for quarantine procedures” button.

When you install the app, if you selected “Yes” when you saw the message “Some quarantine procedures can be done by smartphone app before you enter Japan. Do you want to use this function?” the “Pre-registration for quarantine procedures” button should appear.
If this message does not appear, please uninstall the MySOS app and then re-install it.

Can I use the same MySOS app that I installed for a previous occasion when I entered Japan?

If you already have MySOS installed, please scan the dedicated QR code again or tap on the dedicated link.
* If your app's version is out of date, you may have to update it.If information is still showing from when you previously used Fast Track, please uninstall the MySOS app and then re-install it.

After I enter my responses online, the app freezes when I try to obtain the QR code and I can't go any further. What should I do?

Please clear your browser’s cache, uninstall the app, and then try again to register.
If you still cannot do the registration after reinstalling the app, please present the required documents at the airport quarantine station upon arrival and follow the usual immigration procedures.
If you cannot proceed further after the QR code is displayed, please answer the questions using the "Pre-registration for Quarantine Procedures" button in MySOS.
If you have already answered the questions from this link (https://www.mhlw.go.jp/stf/seisakunitsuite/bunya/0000121431_00251.html), please delete (uninstall) the icon for "Questionnaire app" from the home screen.

I can’t get to the Fast Track screen.

The screen for the “Fast Track” mode has two buttons (“Pre-registration for Quarantine Procedures” and “Pre-registration Instructions”).
If you see a screen with nine buttons you are in MySOS “Normal” mode (original functions). From the settings screen, tap to indicate you want to use the app for Entry/Return.
Click “Yes” when you see this message: “Some quarantine procedures can be done by smartphone app before you enter Japan (Fast Track). Do you want to use this function?”

4.About personal information

How do you handle personal information?

The Health and Location Monitoring App (MySOS) is designed with full awareness of privacy protection, assurance of transparency, and the minimal collection of data required to handle health and location information.

Personal information is handled appropriately based on the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.
In addition, privacy protection is being conducted with reference to and aiming for an equivalent standard as policies such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

I am using the Digital Agency’s Visit Japan Web service. Can I use it in combination with Fast Track?

You are still required to use MySOS, but the use of the Visit Japan Web service or Fast Track (which is based on the MySOS app) is optional.
The data is not linked between the MySOS app and Visit Japan Web, so if you wish to use both, you will need to submit your pre-arrival documentation separately to both.
You would need to register the same information and certificates for both.
