About Fast Track Frequently asked questions

1.About Fast Track

Questions Answers
1-1

What is Fast Track?

It is a way to handle some quarantine procedures before you enter Japan from overseas, using MySOS Web online or the MySOS app on a smartphone.
By using Fast Track you can complete some quarantine procedures to verify documentation prior to entering Japan, including your personal Pledge, test certificate for a COVID test taken less than 72 hours before your flight departure, or vaccination certificate, and passport, etc.

1-2

Is there a cost to use Fast Track?

Fast Track is a way to handle some airport quarantine procedures electronically in advance. There is no cost to use Fast Track itself, but any costs related to having a computer, smartphone or device and using mobile data must be covered by the user.

1-3

Who can use Fast Track?

Anyone can use it regardless of nationality, country, or region, but a computer, smartphone or device that can access the Internet is required.

1-4

Can I still use Fast Track if children travel with me?

Yes.
If a person aged 12 years or under (at time of entry) is traveling together, a parent/guardian can register together for Fast Track by registering name and other information under “Register an accompanying person” when registering by MySOS Web or installing the MySOS app.
A person aged 13 years or over (at time of entry) cannot be registered as an accompanying person, so would either need to register via MySOS Web or have a smartphone and register via the app.

1-5

How do I register if I have had one or two doses of a vaccine, but not three doses?

If you have not received your third dose of valid vaccine(s), please select the “Will not submit” option when asked about registering a vaccination certificate.
If you do not have a valid vaccination certificate, please submit a test certificate for a COVID test taken less than 72 hours before flight departure.

1-6

What should I do to register an accompanying child who did not meet vaccination requirements and/or did not receive a third dose?

If the child has not received a third dose of valid vaccines, please select the “Will not submit” option when asked about registering a vaccine certificate. It is not necessary to upload the parent/guardian's certificate.
Note: Special measures may be granted for children under the age of 18 who do not have a valid vaccination certificate. For details, please refer to the Q&A section on "New Measures Pertaining to Enhanced Border Controls" on this page.

1-7

My child's MySOS app screen is staying yellow and does not changing to blue or green. What should I do?

If you completed registration with “Will not submit” the child’s vaccine certificate and "No" for COVID test certificate, the screen will be yellow. If the child is eligible for an exemption, the screen will stay yellow, but there is no problem entering Japan.

If a child under the age of 18 does not have a valid vaccination certificate, but is accompanied by and living with a parent/custodian who does have one and is responsible for the child's actions, the child can receive a special exemption (not required to submit negative COVID test certificate) and will be considered as having a valid vaccination certificate like the parent/custodian.

Also, if the custodian does not have a valid vaccination certificate but enters Japan with a negative COVID test certificate, a child of preschool age (generally under 6 years old) is considered exempt from the need to have a negative certificate.

1-8

I registered an accompanied child aged 12 or under. Registration is complete for both parent and child. The parent's registration screen is blue or green, but the child's screen is yellow because the child was registered as “Will not submit” vaccination certificate and "No" for COVID test certificate.
The top screen of the MySOS app has not changed to blue or green. What should I do?

If the parent’s registration screen is blue or green and the child is exempt from requirements, the top screen of MySOS app will stay yellow and not change to blue or green.

In this case, if the child is eligible for an exemption, the top screen of the MySOS app will remain yellow, but there is no problem entering Japan.
